Frequently Asked Questions
How does Swipe2delete work?
Swipe2delete shows you your camera roll one photo at a time, one month at a time. Swipe left to delete a photo, swipe right to keep it. When you finish a batch, you get a final review of everything you marked for deletion before anything is removed. It turns cleaning up thousands of photos into something quick — and honestly, kind of fun.
Is Swipe2delete free?
Swipe2delete is free to download and try. Premium unlocks unlimited cleaning, and you can choose between a subscription or a single one-time lifetime purchase — so you’re never locked into a recurring payment to keep your camera roll clean.
Can I recover photos I deleted by accident?
Yes, twice over. Inside the app, tap undo to instantly bring back a photo you just swiped away. And because Swipe2delete uses Apple’s photo library, anything deleted goes to the Recently Deleted album in the Photos app, where it stays for up to 30 days before being permanently removed. Open Photos → Albums → Recently Deleted to restore photos anytime in that window.
Does deleting photos free up storage on my iPhone?
Yes. Photos and screenshots are usually one of the biggest things filling up an iPhone. After you clean a month, Swipe2delete shows exactly how much space you saved. For the space to be reclaimed immediately, also empty the Recently Deleted album in the Photos app — otherwise iOS frees it automatically after 30 days.
I deleted photos but there’s still no free space — why?
Your photos are deleted, but iOS is holding them for you. Whenever you delete photos on an iPhone — with Swipe2delete or any other app — they go to the Recently Deleted album in the Photos app, where they sit for up to 30 days as a safety net. The storage isn’t freed until that album is emptied, either automatically after 30 days or manually right now. See our one-minute guide: how to empty Recently Deleted and free up space immediately.
Will photos be deleted from iCloud too?
If you use iCloud Photos, your library stays in sync — so a photo you delete with Swipe2delete is removed from iCloud and your other devices as well (after the Recently Deleted period). That means cleaning your camera roll also frees up iCloud storage, which can save you from paying for a bigger iCloud plan.
Are my photos private? Does Swipe2delete upload them anywhere?
Your photos never leave your device. Swipe2delete works directly with the photo library on your iPhone — there’s no account, and no uploading your photos to anyone’s server. See our privacy policy for the details.
What’s the fastest way to clean up a huge camera roll?
Don’t try to do it all at once — that’s how cleanups get abandoned. Swipe2delete breaks your library into months, so you can knock out one month whenever you have a spare minute. Your progress is saved per month, a progress wheel shows how far you’ve come, and the On This Day feature resurfaces photos from past years so old clutter gets dealt with too.
How is this different from deleting photos in the Photos app?
The Photos app makes you tap select on each photo, and it’s easy to fat-finger the wrong one with no review step. Swipe2delete is built for exactly one job: deciding keep-or-delete fast. One swipe per photo, an undo button, a final review before anything is deleted, and progress tracking so you actually finish. People have deleted over 27 million photos with it.
